Five Essential Steps to Writing

An essay is usually defined as a written piece that presents the author’s argument, however this definition is rather ambiguous and covers all aspects of newspaper articles or book, a newspaper pamphlet, an article, and even short stories. Essays are typically formal and academic. The first essay of a student was composed in Harvard in 18 44, and it was an answer to a question posed by Harvard professor Robert E. Sherwood. After reading an official letter from President Ulysses S. Grant, the student essay responded by analyzing what he thought were the flaws in the grant.

A well-written essay will usually begin with a statement about the purpose of the paper, followed by the title, thesis, topic or matter, and the length. Then, there’s an introduction that is a summary of the aspects that the author feels are necessary for making an argument that is convincing for their thesis. The introduction will include a description of writer’s job or the subject and an account of the author’s personal life that relates to the particular aspect of the topic. The essay will end with an introduction to the subject, using language that is in line with the style of the written essay and flows from beginning to the end.

The introduction is, without doubt, the most important part of a written essay. The introduction introduces the reader to the writer and allows them to present their arguments to counter the thesis statement. The introduction gives the reader the chance to ask the writer questions, and to find out why he or she disagrees, or to point out weaknesses in the argument. The introduction also sets custom thesis writing out the body of the essay which will consist of the thesis statement, and perhaps an epilogue. The body will continue the discussion of the thesis statement and could need additional information about the writer, the opposing viewpoints, or argument in support of the viewpoints presented. After the conclusion, the essay gives readers an additional opportunity to debate or agree with the writer’s arguments, stating how the information provided makes the reader feel.

A persuasive essay introduction is required to convince readers that the thesis is valid. This is usually accomplished by creating a compelling or appealing opening. The introduction is the opening paragraph, introducing the subject and the argument. The writer is provided with an opportunity to introduce the reader and explain why the thesis is true and should be selected to present in the essay.

Research, solid research and logic are the most effective arguments for a thesis statement. But, this point can’t be adequately made. It is the goal of every essay to convince readers to come to a conclusion that best supports the argument of the essay. As such, it is crucial to gather adequate supporting evidence and research prior to writing the essay.

The conclusion is an important part of any essay. The conclusion is just as essential to writing an essay as the introduction. The conclusion is the last paragraph of the essay that gives the reader a second reason to pick the conclusion in the introduction. The conclusion is not the time for a declaration of victory. But, it does give the writer an incentive to move on to the next subject. Essays that don’t have strong concluding paragraphs do not become very readable.

Every composition should have an essay of five paragraphs as its backbone. A five-paragraph essay must contain a central thesis statement. At the very minimum, the thesis statement should be supported by data and research. More than this is acceptable, however five paragraphs are ideal for compositions that have just a few ideas. For such a short amount of material every weak point is easily overcome applying good essay guidelines. Therefore, a good five-paragraph essay will have a strong central thesis statement that will provide the argument throughout the entire essay.

The introduction is the place where students will begin to think about the essay and decide on its direction. In the introduction, students need to clearly define their goals and write down how they plan to complete the assignment. The writing process begins. An outline is a plan for students who are writing their essay. The outline serves as the basis for the essay that will later become the main focus of the writing.
